James Biscoglia Named Head Girls Wrestling Coach for Raccoon River Wrestling Team
James Biscoglia has been named as the inaugural coach of the Raccoon River Girls Wrestling team. This team will feature wrestlers from Waukee, Waukee Northwest, Van Meter and ADM.
Biscoglia has served as a wrestling coach at Waukee High School from 2006 and 2020. During his time in Waukee, he coached more than 45 state qualifiers, 8 state finalists and 4 state champions. Biscoglia most recently coached wrestling in Van Meter from 2020-2022.
“I am excited for the opportunity to develop this program with a clear vision in mind,” shares Biscoglia. “My goals are to mirror the already successful boys wrestling programs at the schools involved.”
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union sanctioned girls wrestling for the 2022-23 school year. The 2023 girls’ wrestling state tournament is scheduled for February 2-3 in Coralville. More than 700 girls competed, from 160 schools competed in the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association State Tournament in 2022.
