Brett Watson has been named Head Boys Basketball coach at Waukee Northwest High School, pending board approval. Watson comes to Northwest after stops at Adel DeSoto Minburn, Creston, Minot State University and most recently Indianola.  In his four years at Indianola, Watson guided the Indians to a 66-24 record.  After finishing his high school career at Elk Horn- Kimballton as the 5th leading scorer in state history, he was a 4 year letter winner at Wayne State College.  Watson will also teach in the Waukee School District.

Watson will replace Justin Ohl, who was set to lead the Northwest program after 10 years as the head coach at Waukee High School.  Ohl resigned to become the 8-9 Activities Director for Waukee Northwest.  During his tenure at Waukee, Ohl led the Warriors to 8 conference championships and 6 state tournament appearances including  the 2021 Class 4A state championship.
