Get to Know Softball Coach Carrie Eby
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Waukee, been here since 2nd grade.
Where did you go to school?
Waukee High School
How did you get into softball? When did you start?
I started when I was about 6 years old. My brother played baseball and we are a sports family. My parents signed me up for park and rec and continued to play after that.
What is your favorite thing about teaching and coaching?
My favorite thing is watching young adults accomplish their goals – battling through challenges and seeing the success at the end. There is a process in teaching and coaching and if you truly do trust and buy in, you can accomplish so much more than you think you truly can.
What is the most rewarding part about your job?
At the end of the day, I see the maturity that happens and kids’ confidence grow into believing they can achieve more than they thought.

What is your favorite part about Waukee?
My favorite part is being in a strong community full of support for students – trying to give them the best opportunities to be successful. We are challenged daily to find the best version of ourselves. We have chances to grow and learn from our experiences.
