Ottumwa High School
How did you get into Football? When did you start?
My dad was my high school head football coach, so I didn’t really have a choice to play! Tackle football in Ottumwa started in 5th grade, so that is when I started playing. I played flag football before that.
What is your favorite thing about teaching and coaching?
Being able to help kids reach their goals and potential and building great relationships with students, staff, and community members.
What is the most rewarding part about your job?
Being able to compete and do something I am passionate about everyday. I feel very lucky to have a job I love, there are a lot of people that don’t get that.
As a football coach, being able to be part of a team that works towards a common goal. There is so much work and sacrifice that goes into by everyone involved. And that entire journey along the way and relationships that are built is something you always remember. Being able to play high school football is such a unique thing because you really only get one chance to put on the pads and play under the lights on a Friday night.
