How did you get into tennis? When did you start?
I got into tennis in 4th grade when a neighbor friend and I started playing in the driveway. Started taking it more seriously in 7th grade when I played my first tournament.
What is your favorite thing about teaching and coaching?
My favorite thing is making connections with the players. Each season tells its own story, and it’s the journey through each season with the players that tells that story. Same with teaching; building connections with students and watching them grow through the years.
What is the most rewarding part about your job?
Making memories that last a lifetime while coaching a sport that I truly enjoy.
Who does your family consist of?
My wife, Megan (6th grade teacher at South Middle School)
Daughter, Zaida (8th grade at PV)
Son, Ryder (5th grade at GR)
Daughter Marnix, (1st grade at GR)
Daughter Bexley (4 year old preschool at Wee Warriors)
Favorite food & restaurant?
Sushi at Wasabi.
Favorite movie & TV show?
Movie: Napoleon Dynamite
Show: Breaking Bad
Hobbies outside of teaching & coaching?
Exercise, long bike rides, live music.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?
Barack Obama.
What is your favorite part about Waukee?
The educational opportunities that this district offers are incredible. I love hearing about all the fun and innovative things my kids are doing in each of their classrooms. I feel extremely lucky to be a teacher, coach, and parent in this district.
